Former Longtime Elder - Reflections

It was the same here. I went with my wife . The only person to interview was the young MS that does everything for the A H elders. The kid really thinks that he is serving God and that things are great for him. Crummy job no education but he is a pioneer and reaching for his badge. It is getting worse and worse there are no men reaching out. Everyone that I talk to has the same situation in their congregation. The organization is a death star burning out and in a while there will be no one but old people left. Kind of reminds me of the Millerites, where CT Russell got his teachings. What a sad story and to think that I actually supported them as an elder for 40 years just makes me sick.

Black or white what Racial Discrimination have you experienced?

i boarded a train at 4am heading to an airport a few weeks ago.
in my carriage there were at least 100 people.. .

Yes I experienced it in the Watchtower society. I am a white man I was discriminated against by some black so called brothers in positions of responsibility. When I confronted them telling them that I have no animosty or hatred for them it got worse so I never volunteered again at a dc and I previously had a lot of responsibility. Now I have seen it the other way around as well in fact much more whites towards blacks. I love everyone and I do not ever and I repeat never see color in anyone we are all just humans. In fact recently I was with a gay black man. And he was a great man.

How did disfellowshipping work before the elder arrangement?
by slimboyfat inas i understand it disfellowshipping started in the early 1950s, but the elder arrangement didn't come i to place until 1971. nowadays three elders discuss and then vote whether the disfellowship.
but what did they do when congregations didn't have a body of elders.
who decided when to disfellowship then?

Exactly bigmac a committee of three made up of congregation servant, and two others. It was started by N H Knorr to solve some petty problem of his. It has always been a disgusting practice. When any religion tears you away from your family it is a crime in my mind. I can see keeping people away from your precious other cult members but not your family.
I so wish that someone could sue and win over the family shunning issue but it has been tried and they are always exonerated lying sob' s. Anyway just my two cents. stuck in

by James Jackson ini have served 20 years as an elder, 5 years as an ms. was on the district committee in 2010, held various positions on the district , circuit, and rbc level.
probably been on more than 100 judicial committees and even an appeals committee.
was the coordinator in our congregation and deleted because adult child was df ( i kicked him out at the time of his wrongdoing, but that wasn't enough for thr brothers).

Welcome former long time elder here also over three decades and born in. I almost never post here but thought I would say welcome. It is a tough journey and once begun there is no going back I know I have tried. It took me years and many unanswered prayer to realize that the Watchtower is like all other money grubbing religions. I am now so far away from Watchtower theology that I am a completely different person not bad just different.
You will learn much here I read every day to keep up with changes. Again welcome read everything you can about the so called organization of god and you too will come to realize that they are wrong. Stuck In

Out and Gay but fed up of 'fading' - advice please.
by frogonmytoe insomeone once quoted gandhi to me, but i don't actually think it was gandhi, saying that man can only be happy when what he says, what he believes and what he does are all in harmony.. how many of us led lives that meant all three of those were at loggerheads whilst jws?.
i came out as gay when still a witness, to my family first and then my friends.
they were all accepting of me, to varying degrees, but accepting.. i even asked the elders for help.

Frogonmytoe : I read here all of the time but never post but your situation compels me to speak to you. First let me say that I am happy for you that you have found someone to love. Being gay and associated with the Watchtower is a very difficult life. I feel for you so much. You see I too am gay although I am still in and married to a woman for many years. I do this only to hold my family together they are so die hard I would be left for dead. I know that some will say i am a fake, perhaps i even agree with you. But i never came to grips with my sexuality until only a few years ago. We're i your age I would definitely do as you have done and live my life the way I was meant to with a man I love if I could have found one. So my friend embrace your life and I favor the soft telling of the family and let them draw their own conclusion. As time goes on they will realize that you are happy and living the life you were meant to live. If they don't it is their loss so sad for them.
As we all know the Watchtower is regardless of what they say a religion of hate they teach it and they live it although they don't know it. And they are not the only religion most are the same way. We were taught hate all of our lives in a false cover of lies that we were the most loving people on earth. I know without a doubt that God is a God of love and would never have made us this way if he didn't love us. I was an elder for many years and have seen first hand the pain that this religion causes while those at the top (G B) do what they want marry young girls as old men, live a gay life (Greenlees) and molest dear little children.
I am happy for you that you have found a man to love, live your life to the fullest with him. God loves you. Life is so short make the best of it. I only wish I were in your shoes but I am an old man now.

I recently read that there may have been more to the destruction of the twin towers and may have been demolished by something like the Harp system that the us Govt has . The location is based in Alaska. There is a lot of information on youtube about the technology.
